Students in grades 6-8 participated in the Global Read Aloud this fall with the book A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park and were so inspired to help the people of South Sudan gain access to clean drinking water. 6th grade sold ice cream at lunches to raise over $1000 to donate to the Water for South Sudan Iron Giraffe Challenge. Their donation will help with the drilling of a well to bring clean drinking water to a village of 100 people! They received a letter today from Salva Dut, the inspiration for the book A Long Walk to Water and founder of Water for South Sudan, thanking them for their generous efforts to help make the world a better place. Kudos to the students at STV!
